Welcome to the New vNES Experience!
Over the past several months, we've been working on a redesign of the vNES site to bring the design in line with XHTML and CSS standards, and to have a more common user interface with the upcoming vGBX website. What you see here is the result of that project. Thanks to optimizations with the new design, vNES loads about 20% faster than it did before. If you notice something that doesn't work properly or could be improved on, please use the contact form to let us know.
Bonk's Adventure, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Kiwi Kraze, and Prince of Persia were added in this update, as well as Crackout and New Ghostbusters 2 from the United Kingdom and Banana Prince from Germany.
Instead of having different options buttons on each page, the new Options menu has been introduced which allows you to define your own settings, such as whether sound is off or on, and if you wish to play with scanlines enabled.
Because we now have a method for users to define their own settings, the ability to change what keys you have assigned to the respective controller in vNES is now customizable.
Accordingly, the vNES applet was updated to version 2.12. Typically, this would be in the download section, but our new site www.openemulation.com was intended to replace that section. Unfortunately, it isn't ready to go live yet, so there is a simple page there with downloads to the source and applet, if you need it. If you're just here for the games, we've handled all of that for you already.
Update: Some users may have had difficulty using the site using WebKit-based browsers or Internet Explorer 6. This issue should now be fixed.
